Naming the Red Cross in Your Will

Having a will is a great way to benefit your heirs and your favorite charities…including the American Red Cross Jersey Coast Chapter. During our lifetimes almost every one of us will be touched in some way by the work of the American Red Cross. A gift to the Jersey Coast Chapter in your will helps ensure that the Red Cross will continue to be there to provide critical services to your children and grandchildren, and others throughout your community who are in need. It is a way that you can extend your legacy of concern and compassion to future generations.

It is as easy as inserting a few sentences naming the American Red Cross Jersey Coast Chapter as beneficiary of a specific item, or of a percentage or all of the remainder of your estate. Aside from the pure joy achieved through helping others, you have the security of knowing you are free to change your plans should you need those assets to support your family. Your attorney should, of course, be involved in planning your will and you can share this information with them. The proper bequest language for a gift to the Jersey Coast Chapter is as follows:

"I give, devise and bequeath to the American Red Cross Jersey Coast Chapter, the sum of $_______ (or otherwise describe the gift or specify a percentage of the estate)."

When you are a planned gift donor, the Red Cross will honor you with membership in The Legacy Society. If you have already made a plan to give to the Red Cross in your will or estate plans or have any questions, please call us at (732) 493-9100 or send us an e-mail. We would love to hear from you so we can keep you informed on our work here at the Jersey Coast Chapter and what your gift will truly mean to all the lives we touch.
