What is Cause Related Marketing?
- A product (or service) is sold in association with the Red Cross name or logo. For example:
- An event promoter wants to sell tickets to an event (concert, play, etc.) and donate a percentage of the ticket sales to the Red Cross.
- An author wants to sell a book and donate all ‘proceeds’ or a certain percentage of their royalties to the Red Cross.
- A business wants to donate all or a percentage of their sales on a certain day to the Red Cross.
- An individual decides to hold an auction to benefit the Red Cross.
- A magazine promises to donate a certain amount to the Red Cross for every new subscriber that signs up to their magazine within a certain time period.
- The Red Cross logo is used in conjunction with a corporate image that extends into the public domain.
- A loyalty program tells its customers that they can acquire additional points if they can prove they made a donation of a certain amount.
- The effort will be for one or more years in length, or will have the capacity to sponsor the American Red Cross at the level of $250,000 or more.
