Erika Rech of Middletown - Paving the Way Hero
Erika Rech, a senior at High Technology High School, selflessly works toward making a difference in our world at the young age of 18 through the foundation Breast Friends Forever. Working with her cousin and fellow hero recipient, Michael Ruane; their foundation raises money which goes directly to women within their community facing financial hardship as they struggle with breast cancer. After their family was directly affected by the cruelties of breast cancer; Erika and her cousin Michael were compelled to help families struggling with the disease. Breast Friends Forever provides resources, emotional and financial support. The cause strictly is run on donations. Erika’s commitment to community service is truly heartwarming and the organization has received multiple honors consisting of ; Governor’s Recognition, Legislative, Middletown Education Commendations and several magazine honorable mentions. Erika, you are paving the way for our community to stand up for a cause.
